The Department of Chemistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) announces the opening of thirty (30) positions for master’s degree students for the establishment and operation of the English-taught Master’s Program in “Environmental Sciences and Public Health.”
The M.Sc. program was established in the academic year 2022 (Government Gazette: 1192, B’ 16-3-2022) and will operate with tuition fees according to Law 4957/2022.
The purpose of the Master’s Program in “Environmental Sciences and Public Health” is twofold. Firstly, it aims to promote scientific knowledge and the application of new knowledge and technology in the context of the new conditions and challenges of climate crisis management in the 21st century. Secondly, it aims to specialize new scientists with a focus on the environment and public health and the ways in which these fields interact, complement, and overlap. The M.Sc. program leads to the award of a Master’s degree upon the successful completion of four academic semesters.
Categories of prospective graduates
The M.Sc. program in “Environmental Sciences and Public Health” accepts graduates from Schools of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Health Sciences, Public Health, Agriculture, and Environment of domestic institutions, as well as recognized equivalent institutions abroad. The English-taught M.Sc. program primarily targets international candidates. Additionally, supernumerary members of the EEP(Special teaching stuff), EDIP(Laboratory Teaching stuff), and ETEP(Laboratory Technical Stuff) categories are eligible for admission, as specified in paragraph 8 of article 34 of Law 4485/17.
Selection Criteria
The selection of students is carried out in accordance with Law 4485/2017 and the provisions of the current Regulation.
The required documents are:
1. Application Form
2. Curriculum Vitae
3. Copy of bachelor’s degree or certificate of completion of studies. Prospective graduates can also submit an application, provided that they will have obtained the certificate of completion of studies no later than one day before the meeting date of the Department of Chemistry Assembly, which will approve the list of candidates.
4. Transcript of Records
5. Publications in peer-reviewed journals, if applicable.
6. Evidence of professional or research activity, if applicable.
7. Photocopy of passport and/or identification card.
8. Two reference letters.
9. English language certificate (at least B2 level).
Students from foreign institutions must submit a certificate of equivalence and/or provide the required documents for the recognition of their undergraduate degree through the Hellenic NARIC (DOATAP), in accordance with Article 34, paragraph 7 of Law 4485/17 and Article 101, paragraph 5 of Law 4547/18.
The tuition fees for the attendance of the MSc program amount to €6,000 in total for candidates from within the EU, and €10,000 in total for candidates from outside the EU. The fees are divided into four equal installments, payable at the beginning of each semester.

9. Certificate of English Proficiency or Adequate Knowledge of the English Language for international applicants, as determined by the Selection Committee of the MSc program.
10. Recognition of an academic degree from a foreign institution.
For students from foreign institutions who do not provide a certificate of recognition of their academic degree from DOATAP, the following procedure is followed:
• The Department Assembly appoints a committee responsible for determining whether a foreign institution or a type of foreign degree is recognized. In order for a degree to be recognized, the following conditions must be met:
• The institution that awards the degrees must be included in the list of foreign institutions maintained and updated by DOATAP.
• The student must provide a certificate of place of study issued and sent by the foreign university. If the place of study or part of it is certified as Greek territory, the degree is not recognized unless the part of study conducted in Greek territory is from a public university.

Ανακοινώνονται τα αποτελέσματα εκλογών εκπροσώπων μελών ΔΕΠ ανά Τομέα στη Συνέλευση του Τμήματος

Ανακοινώνεται ότι οι αιτήσεις ορκωμοσίας πτυχιούχων εξεταστικής περιόδου Ιουνίου ακ. Έτους 2022-2023 θα υποβληθούν ηλεκτρονικά στη Γραμματεία του Τμήματος από 7/72023 έως και 17/7/2023 (secr@chem.uoa.gr) με θέμα «ΑΙΤΗΣΗ ΟΡΚΩΜΟΣΙΑΣ ΠΡΟΠΤΥΧΙΑΚΟΥ».
Σας ενημερώνουμε ότι δεν χρειάζεται μαζί με την αίτηση Ορκωμοσίας να προσκομίσετε και βεβαίωση ΜΗ οφειλής βιβλίων στην βιβλιοθήκη. Θα πρέπει όμως να έχετε επιστρέψει τα βιβλία που οφείλετε και να μην έχετε εκκρεμότητες με την βιβλιοθήκη. Επίσης στην περίπτωση πρακτικής άσκησης, αυτή θα πρέπει να έχει ολοκληρωθεί πριν την αίτηση ορκωμοσίας όπως και οι όποιες απαιτήσεις του προγράμματος σπουδών, των αιτούντων
Στην περίπτωση που υπάρχουν μαθήματα που δεν θα συμμετέχουν στον υπολογισμό του βαθμού του πτυχίου θα πρέπει να αναφέρονται στην αίτηση με τίτλο και κωδικό του οδηγού σπουδών. Οι πιστωτικές μονάδες των μαθημάτων αυτών, θα υπολογίζονται κανονικά.
