Αγαπητοί συνάδελφοι,

με μεγάλη χαρά σας ανακοινώνουμε το 2ο Συμπόσιο Μεταπτυχιακών Φοιτητών του Τμήματος Χημείας του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών «Χημεία και Εφαρμογές της», που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 8 και 9 Ιουνίου 2023 στο Τμήμα Χημείας του ΕΚΠΑ. Σκοπός του συμποσίου είναι να δοθεί η ευκαιρία σε όλους τους μεταπτυχιακούς φοιτητές και υποψηφίους διδάκτορες (MSc & PhD), να αναδείξουν το ερευνητικό τους έργο και να αναπτύξουν δεξιότητες άρτιας προβολής της επιστημονικής τους δραστηριότητας, λαμβάνοντας μέρος με προφορικές ή αναρτημένες παρουσιάσεις. Πρόκειται για το δεύτερο συμπόσιο μιας σειράς που ευελπιστούμε ότι θα βρει ανταπόκριση στους νέους συναδέλφους.

The Athens Summer School on Organic Synthesis 2022 (ASSOS2022) and the International Young Investigator Symposium will be the second of a series of Summer School events, hosted in Athens, Greece. The mission of the ASSOS 2022 is to provide PhD students, MSc students, junior researchers and in general participants from both academia and industry, with the most recent advances in the field of Organic Synthesis, introducing hot and emerging areas of Organic Chemistry.

ASSOS 2022 will be dedicated to new and sustainable methodologies and technologies, discussing cutting-edge, both emerging and established hot topics of research in Organic Synthesis. Particular interest will be given to green, environmentally friendly and sustainable methodologies that could find applications in chemical industry, including pharmaceutical industry and fine chemical industry. The School is organized into thematic sessions, each of them constructed around a series of lectures.

Mechanochemistry – Sustainable Applications in Organic Chemistry

Photochemistry – Solar and Visible Light Synthesis

Continuous Flow Synthesis – Emerging Applications in Pharmaceutical Industry

Advances in Synthetic Methodology for Drug Discovery

The summer school targets to be an international event, where researchers from all over the world will come together, explore and discuss hot topics of Organic Synthesis. Bringing together young and experienced researchers is expected to create strong bonds between organic synthetic chemists and to flourish new ideas and collaborations on the particular topics of the summer school.

The ASSOS 2022 summer school will run on July 7-9, 2022, as a face to face event.

Dear Colleagues, On behalf of the scientific and organizing committees, I have the pleasure of inviting you to attend the “Athens Conference on Advances in Chemistry (acac2022)”, which will be held from June 26 to July 1, 2022 in Athens, Greece.

This conference is the third of a series of International Conferences that were initiated on the occasion of the centennial anniversary of the Department of Chemistry at NKUA since its establishment in 1918.

Thanks to all of you it has expanded since the previous one was attended by almost 600 participants from 50 Universities and Institutes distributed to 15 countries all over the world. We hope this conference to be also highly active and a forum for exchange of the latest knowledge concerning chemistry and related areas among researchers from all over the world. We anticipate fruitful discussions on the latest topics during several plenary, keynote, and invited lectures, contributed talks, and poster presentations. In addition, there will be an Early Career Researcher evening event for young researchers, whereas different side meetings and symposiums will take place.

It is our intention to establish an inspiring atmosphere for exchanging innovative ideas and initiating new collaborations and we believe that the Department of Chemistry, NKUA, and the capital of Greece, Athens are the perfect place for it.

We are pleased to invite you to the 2^nd International Conference on Aerogels for Biomedical and Environmental Applications, which will be held from June 29 to July 1, 2022, in Athens, Greece.

The meeting is organized by the AERoGELS COST Action (https://cost-aerogels.eu) and the Department of Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (http://old.chem.uoa.gr/).

Aerogels are widely known as nanostructured porous ultra-light materials comprising mostly of air. With unique properties traceable to their nanostructure, aerogels make their way into advanced technology. With thermal insulation being their flagship application, aerogels are rapidly penetrating all current areas of nanotechnology, with special momentum in biomedicine and the environment. Biomedical applications include aerogel-based materials as drug carriers, synthetic bone grafts (implants) or advanced wound dressings. Environmental applications include heat insulation, sound insulation, sensing and detection of air and water pollutants, wastewater treatment and air decontamination. The conference will also host a Symposium on Aerogels for Food Applications, which include sustainable ingredients, biodegradable food packaging, and adjuvants for the removal of odors and other contaminants.

Το τμήμα Χημείας καλεί την Τρίτη 8 Μαρτίου 2022 μετά τις 3.00μμ στο Α15 τους φοιτητές του και των 3 κύκλων σπουδών (Προπτυχιακούς, Φοιτητές Διπλώματος Ειδίκευσης και Υποψήφιους Διδάκτορες ) σε μια ανοιχτή συζήτηση με εκπροσώπους παραγωγικών φορέων της χώρας μας

Στελέχη των εταιρειών θα παρουσιάσουν τις προκλήσεις και τις υποχρεώσεις /δικαιώματα των Χημικών σήμερα στη Βιομηχανία. Τι απαιτείται από ένα Χημικό. Ενώ θα παρουσιασθούν και εταιρείες που δημιουργήθηκαν από ανθρώπους που απέκτησαν τη γνώση μέσα από την έρευνα.

Θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση με όλους του φορείς.

Η είσοδος είναι ελεύθερη και ευελπιστούμε αυτή η διοργάνωση να αποτελέσει θεσμό για το Τμήμα μας ( Το πλήρες πρόγραμμα θα ανακοινωθεί εγκαίρως).

We have the pleasure to announce the opening of Abstract Submissions for the 9^th IUPAC International Conference on Green Chemistry (9^th ICGC), that will take place in Athens, Greece, on 5-9 September 2022 offering the choice of on-line participation.
The 9^th ICGC will be organized by the Association of Greek Chemists (AGC) in collaboration with the IUPAC Interdivisional Committee on Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development (ICGCSD) and is the ninth of the series of IUPAC International Conferences on Green Chemistry, the first having been organized in Germany (2006), followed by Russia (2008), Canada (2010), Brazil (2012), South Africa (2014), Italy (2016), Russia (2017) and Thailand (2018). The 9^th ICGC was initially planned for 2020 but it was postponed for 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The conference is addressed to scientists, researchers and students, educators, industry representatives, policy makers, social and professional bodies, as well as anyone interested to be informed and discuss recent developments in the fields of Green Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Sustainable Development and Circular Economy.

The 9^th ICGC will cover the following general areas:

• Green Chemistry in Research and Industry
• Green Chemistry in Education and Society
• Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development, Bioeconomy and Circular Economy

The conference programme will comprise of Plenary, Keynote, Oral and Poster presentations, and will include special workshops, presentation of awards and prizes, and attractive social events.
The proceedings of the conference will be published in a Special Issue of IUPAC’s official journal, Pure and Applied Chemistry, following standard submission and review process of the journal. Selected papers will also be published in Special Issues of high impact journals in the field of Green and Sustainable Chemistry, following their standard peer-review procedures.

To Τμήμα Χημείας του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών συμμετέχει, την Τρίτη 9 Φεβρουαρίου 2021, στη διοργάνωση του GLOBAL WOMEN’S BREAKFAST της IUPAC, το οποίο θα φιλοξενήσει γυναίκες χημικούς και φοιτήτριες  από όλο τον κόσμο για να γιορτάσουν τα Επιτεύγματα των Γυναικών στη Χημεία. Να αναπτύξουν παγκόσμιο δίκτυο συνεργασίας για την ενδυνάμωση των γυναικών στις επιστήμες και την στήριξη της διαφορετικότητας. Ένα πάνελ Γυναικών Χημικών από το χώρο της Ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας, της Βιομηχανίας, της Εκπαίδευσης, της Υγείας θα κάνουν μία σύντομη παρουσίαση και στη συνέχεια θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση με τους συμμετέχοντες.
